Your SAN stays.
VMware goes.
Leaving VMware shouldn't mean replacing storage you've already paid for. See live how whitesky.cloud runs virtual machines directly on your existing SAN arrays and servers, with storage tiers you define yourself.
- Reuse your SAN: LUNs over Fibre Channel or iSCSI
- Fast and economical storage tiers on the same array
- Start with as few as 3 servers

Why this webinar
Many organizations leaving VMware have invested heavily in SAN arrays, already have data on them and work with strict procurement cycles. For them, replacing the hypervisor should not mean replacing the storage too.
With whitesky.cloud’s external storage integration you keep the hardware you have: the servers become a whitesky Server-Set and the LUNs from your array become an External Storage Pool. No VMFS and no proprietary storage layer, just standard Linux LVM.
What we’ll cover
1. Keep the array, lose VMware. How LUNs from your existing array, presented over Fibre Channel or iSCSI, become a shared External Storage Pool, and how a VM combines disks on the SAN, on local NVMe and on whitesky software-defined storage. Customers only see virtual disks.
2. Storage tiers and performance. How an operator defines storage classes on the same SAN, for example a fast, premium tier and a slower, more economical one, and why thin-provisioned volumes keep the performance impact of snapshots low. The built-in storage classes can be switched off per location, so a location can run entirely on your SAN.
3. Grow, mix and protect. Adding LUNs online while VMs keep running, replacing arrays step by step, and agentless incremental backups with block-level change tracking.
Followed by live Q&A.
Who should attend
Managed Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers, systems integrators and IT advisors who are moving customers off VMware, and IT and infrastructure teams planning their own exit.
Good to know
- External storage integration was first validated on IBM SAN storage. Compatibility is certified per vendor and SAN type, and a proof of concept can validate your array.
